Prof. Dr. Cordula Kropp is a sociologist with a long-standing focus on sociological sustainability and technology studies. At the University of Stuttgart, she heads the Chair of Sociology with a focus on Environmental and Technology Research. She is also Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies at the University of Stuttgart (ZIRIUS).
Her work and research focus on processes of socio-technical and socio-ecological transformation, particularly in the context of current infrastructure transitions (construction, energy, and mobility transitions; digitalization and automation), as well as the conditions and opportunities for shaping them democratically on the path toward a just and sustainable society. At the DFG Humanities Centre for Advanced Studies "Futures of Sustainability," she will be exploring transformative perspectives on sustainable material relations.
Kropp is Lead PI in the Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Transformative Architecture" (IntCDC) and a member of acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
