Katharina Zimmermann is a sociologist at the University of Hamburg interested in the intersection of climate change and the welfare state. She works both on policies and on societal conflicts; understanding the welfare state as a fundamental dimension of the socio-political fabric of our societies. She leads research projects on attitudes towards eco-social policies, on the European Green Deal, and on working time policies and precarious work. Her empirical work is mostly focused on European societies from a cross-country country perspective. She is co-founder and board-member of the ‘Sustainable Welfare and Eco-Social Policy Network’.
