Vedran Horvat is managing director of the Zagreb based Institute for Political Ecology since 2015. He also is a member of the board of directors of The Green European Foundation since 2019. Prior to that, he worked for the Heinrich Böll Foundation office in Croatia for more than a decade. Vedran also is active in the Right to the City movement and was engaged in a number of domestic and European foundations that support civil society and activism. Sociologist by training, he specialized in human rights and gained some relevant journalistic experience in the early days of his career. While a significant portion of his work lies in the management of these organizations, he is also engaged in various international research projects on energy remunicipalisation, deliberative practices, just transition, post-growth, commons and public services. Most of his work is located in the nexus between academia, politics and social movements. His long-term research and publishing interest is the relationship between political ecology and green politics.
Welcome to Hamburg, Vedran!
