New Writer in Residence: Sara Schurmann

Sara Schurmann is a freelance journalist, author and journalism trainer. Among others she worked as executive editor, chief copy editor and consultant for the German publications Tagesspiegel, VICE, Gruner + Jahr, Zeit Online, funk and SWR. In 2018, Medium Magazin chose her as one of its Top 30 under 30. 2020 Schurmann published an open letter to her colleagues asking journalists to take the climate crisis seriously, 2021 she co-founded the Climate Journalism Network Germany. Her first book "Klartext Klima" was published in 2022, and in the same year the Medium magazine jury voted her Science Journalist of the Year. Since January 2024, she has been writing as a columnist for T-Online about the climate crisis and options for action. Sara will be a Writer in Residence at our Centre from April to July 2024.
