New Fellow: Kerstin Lopatta

Kerstin Lopatta’s research focuses on sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, financial accounting, auditing, and corporate governance, with a particular emphasis on how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors impact companies and society. She is regarded as an expert in the development and review of new EU-wide sustainability reporting standards (e.g., ESRS), and chairs relevant committees at the national and European level.

At the Centre “Futures of Sustainability” at the University of Hamburg, she will apply her expertise to analyze future directions for sustainability reporting, the role of sustainability disclosures in guiding transformation toward climate neutrality, and the ways financial and real economy interact to enable the green transition. 

Her track record of combining rigorous empirical analysis with policy-driven sustainability topics positions her to make significant contributions within the centers interdisciplinary environment.
